Mobile homes in Croatia: The complete guide to Camp Mon Perin

Anyone who has stayed in a mobile home at least once, experienced that sense of freedom and closeness to nature, woken up to birdsong and the scent of pine drifting through an open window, often finds it difficult to go back to traditional hotel rooms and apartments.

Because there is something special about having your morning coffee beneath the pine trees, watching the sunrise through the branches, breathing in the fresh morning air and feeling the gentle sea breeze. It is a kind of luxury that is difficult to explain until you experience it for yourself.

Accomodation

Every summer, these are exactly the kind of mornings that welcome guests to Mon Perin, a campsite on the west coast of Istria, near Bale.

There are several types of accommodation available at the campsite (camping pitches, camping mobile homes, camping villas and luxury glamping villas at Porto Bus), but in this guide we are focusing specifically on mobile homes, a popular choice for guests who are considering camping as a way to holiday for the first time.

We’ll explain what staying in mobile homes in Croatia actually means and what you can realistically expect for your money, using Mon Perin as a real-life example.

Mobile home: A small home with a big sense of freedom

Camping with an air mattress, putting up a tent and searching for a torch in the dark are no longer the only ways to enjoy a holiday at a campsite. Today, you can be just as close to the sea and nature while enjoying the comfort of your own little home.

That is exactly what mobile homes offer: fully equipped accommodation that is ready for you as soon as you arrive.

Inside, you’ll find everything you would expect from a smaller apartment: one or two bedrooms, a kitchen with a hob and fridge, and your own bathroom with a shower.

Then there is the terrace, where, trust us, you’ll soon realise that you spend more time than inside the mobile home itself. There is no tent to pitch, no piles of camping equipment to unpack and no car packed with things you might need “just in case”. Arrive with your suitcase and slippers, unpack, and your holiday can practically begin straight away.

At Mon Perin, more than 200 mobile homes are spread across the San Polo and Colona zones.

Different locations and types of mobile homes allow you to choose the one that best suits the way you want to spend your holiday, whether you are travelling as a couple, with children or as a larger group.

Who are mobile homes best suited to?

A mobile home is particularly well suited to families who want comfort without having to worry about equipment: a kitchen for a quick breakfast before heading to the beach, your own bathroom when a tired child needs a shower after a long day and air conditioning for a more comfortable night’s sleep after spending the day in the sun.

They are also a good choice for groups of friends or larger families who need more space than a tent can provide but don’t need a private pool or the concierge service of a glamping villa.

For guests looking for complete privacy and a higher level of luxury, a luxury glamping villa with a private pool may be a better choice. And for those who see their own tent or motorhome and an authentic camping experience as an essential part of the holiday, a camping pitch is the more natural option.

A mobile home sits somewhere in between: comfortable enough that you won’t feel you are missing anything, yet close enough to nature to still feel that you have genuinely come camping.

San Polo or Colona: Two zones, two holiday experiences

Mon Perin stretches along an impressive 9.5 kilometres of coastline and is divided into two zones, both served by the same reception. Although they are part of the same campsite, each has its own advantages, so when choosing a mobile home, it is worth thinking about how you imagine spending your days on holiday.

San Polo, closer to Bale, is a good choice if you like having different facilities within easy reach. This is where you’ll find Paleo Water Park, the sports centre and Saltwater Oasis Wellness & Spa. You can end the day with dinner at San Polo restaurant, known for its sunset views. Colona, further north, is home to Mol Picio and Porto Bus restaurants, as well as its own stretch of Mon Perin’s long coastline.

Both zones have dog-friendly beaches, so four-legged members of the family don’t have to stay at home either. Whichever zone you choose, the sea and pine forest remain the shared backdrop that makes it easy to settle into a slower, summery pace of life here.

Practical questions guests ask most often

When choosing a mobile home, a sea view and a terrace shaded by pine trees can easily take all your attention. But before booking, a few practical questions usually come up too, from whether you can bring your dog on holiday to where you can park your car. That’s why we’ve gathered answers to some of the questions guests ask most often in one place.

Of course – four-legged members of the family deserve a summer holiday too. Mon Perin is a pet-friendly campsite and there are dog-friendly beaches in both zones, so your time together doesn’t have to end when you head towards the sea. A morning walk along the coast, a day spent in the shade of the pine trees and a swim in the sea can all become part of the holiday for the whole family, including its four-pawed members. Yes, bed linen is included in the price of your mobile home with no additional charge so there is no need to bring your own. Bed linen is changed every seven days, while towels are changed every three days. Beach towels are not included in the price and are not available for rent. Your car won’t be an extra concern, as parking for guests is free of charge. And if you would rather fly to your holiday destination and forget about driving altogether for a few days, Mon Perin also offers a free transfer from Pula Airport for stays of seven nights or more, provided it is booked at least seven days in advance.

It depends on the particular mobile home you choose, and this is where you can select the location according to your idea of the perfect holiday. Perhaps you want to be right by the sea, so close that you can almost jump into your swimwear from your bed in the morning. Or perhaps you prefer the peace and quiet a little further from the coast, with a terrace tucked away in the shade of the pine forest. With 9.5 kilometres of coastline, both zones offer a variety of locations, allowing you to choose the one that suits you best.

Choose the accommodation that suits you

A mobile home is an excellent choice if you want a comfortable family holiday without having to worry about camping equipment, while still enjoying the things that bring you to a campsite in the first place: the sea just a few steps away, the scent of pine trees, mornings on the terrace and the feeling that you have spent most of the day outdoors.

If you are looking for something different, such as an authentic camping experience on a pitch, the extra space of a camping villa or the privacy of a luxury glamping villa with a private pool, Mon Perin has an option for you too.
